When should you get lash extensions before your wedding?
I book a wedding full set of lash extensions two to three weeks before the date, then a fill two to four days out. If you have never worn extensions, try a set months earlier. Every full set is $175, whether classic, hybrid, volume or mega volume, and a fill is $65.
Should you get lash extensions before your wedding?
If you like the look and you are willing to keep them for a few weeks, yes. Extensions let me build the eye with much less liner, which photographs softer and holds longer than a heavy liner look. If you do not want the upkeep, a Lash Lift and Tint at $80 gives you a lifted, darker version of your own lashes with nothing to maintain.
Classic, hybrid or volume: what is the difference?
| Set | Price | Time | Looks like |
|---|---|---|---|
| Classic Full Set | $175 | 2 hrs | One extension on each natural lash. Your lashes, longer. The most natural option. |
| Hybrid Full Set | $175 | 2 hrs | A mix of classic and volume fans. More texture and a little more fullness. |
| Volume Full Set | $175 | 2 hrs 30 min | Fine fans on each lash. Fuller and softer than classic, still light. |
| Mega Volume Full Set | $175 | 2 hrs 30 min | The densest option. Choose it because you want obvious lashes. |
| Lash Fill | $65 | 45 min | Maintenance, usually every two to three weeks. |
| Lash Lift and Tint | $80 | 45 min | No extensions. Your own lashes lifted and darkened. |
| Eyelash Tinting | $40 | 30 min | Colour only, useful if your lashes are fair. |
For a wedding, most brides land on classic or hybrid, because they read as lashes rather than as lash extensions in photos. Volume and mega volume are the right call if you already wear a bold eye and want that in your pictures. Full descriptions are on my lash extensions page.
When should you book the full set?
- First set, three months out or earlier. If you have never worn extensions, do not let your wedding set be your first. Wear a set once so you know how they feel, how they suit you and how your own lashes respond.
- Wedding set, two to three weeks before the date. That gives the adhesive time to cure fully and lets any that were going to shed do it early.
- Fill in the wedding week, not the day before. Two to four days out is comfortable. The day before leaves no room if you want a small change.
- Style decided at the bridal preview. Come to the preview with the lashes you intend to have on the day so the makeup is built around them.
How I plan makeup for this
Lashes change the makeup, so I plan them together. With a classic or hybrid set I can skip a heavy liner entirely and use a soft shadow instead, which stays cleaner through a long day. With volume I keep the rest of the eye simpler, because a dense lash plus a smoky eye reads as heavier in photos than it does in the mirror.
Extensions also change the practical side. No waterproof mascara on extensions, no oil based remover near them, and no lash curler. I build the wedding day plan around those rules and I tell you which pieces in your touch up kit are safe to use near your lashes.
Aftercare in the last weeks
- Keep them dry for the first day after the set.
- Brush them with a clean spoolie each morning.
- Cleanse the lash line properly. Extensions fail from a dirty lash line more often than from anything else.
- Sleep on your back if you can, especially the night before the wedding.
- Skip oil based cleansers, heavy creams near the eye and anything waterproof on the lashes themselves.
Do you need lashes at all?
No. Plenty of brides skip them entirely and I build the eye with shadow and liner instead, which photographs beautifully and has no aftercare rules attached. Lashes are worth it if you already like the look, or if you want a softer eye than liner alone can give you. If you are unsure, wear a set months before the wedding and decide then, when nothing is riding on it.
What I would not do is book a first set in the final fortnight. That is the one version of this that goes wrong.
How much do lashes cost over the months before a wedding?
The honest answer depends on how long you keep them, so here is how the maths works rather than a made up total. A full set is a one off cost, and fills at $65 come around every two to three weeks while you wear them. So a bride who has her first set three months out and keeps them until the wedding is paying for one set plus roughly five or six fills. A bride who only wants them for the wedding pays for one set plus one fill.
Neither is the right answer. Wearing them longer means you know exactly how they suit you and there are no surprises. Wearing them only at the end costs less. Tell me which you would rather do and I will plan the appointments around it.
What if you have sensitive eyes?
Tell me before you book, not on the day. Sensitivity is common and it usually shows up as watering or itching in the first day or two. That is exactly why I do not want your wedding set to be your first set. If extensions do not suit you, a Lash Lift and Tint at $80 or Eyelash Tinting at $40 gives you a lot of the effect with none of the adhesive.
If you wear contacts, bring glasses to the appointment. Two hours with your eyes closed in contacts is less comfortable than it sounds.
Brows in the same window
Lashes and brows want different timing. A Brow Lamination at $65 is best about two weeks before the wedding, and it should not be your first, so have one earlier in the year to see how your brows respond. Any waxing, sugaring or threading around the brow belongs a week or more before the date rather than the day before, so there is no redness in photos. There is more on my brow lamination page.
Timing from Lewiston
Lash appointments are at my studio inside Tucci and Co Salon at 1065 Sabattus St in Lewiston. A full set needs two to two and a half hours, so plan the appointment on a day you are not rushing. Studio services are booked directly through my online booking.
If I am also doing your wedding makeup, I line the lash appointments up with your bridal preview and the wedding date so nothing lands too late. Bridal Makeup is $300 and includes the preview, and you can see the whole picture on the Maine wedding makeup page and on the pricing page.
What should I read next?
If you are still planning, read about brow lamination before a wedding and the full bridal beauty timeline. When you are ready, check your wedding date and I will reply within one business day.
Questions, answered
How long before my wedding should I get lash extensions?
Two to three weeks before the date for the full set, then a fill two to four days before the wedding. That gives the adhesive time to cure and lets any lashes that were going to shed do it early.
Classic, hybrid or volume for a wedding?
Most brides choose classic or hybrid, because they read as lashes rather than as extensions in photos. Volume and mega volume suit you if you already wear a bold eye. Every full set is $175.
Can I wear mascara over lash extensions on my wedding day?
No waterproof mascara and no lash curler on extensions, and no oil based remover near them. I build the wedding day makeup around those rules and show you which touch up pieces are safe near your lashes.
Is a lash lift a better option than extensions?
It is if you would rather not maintain a set. A Lash Lift and Tint is $80 and lifts and darkens your own lashes, with nothing to fill and no aftercare rules about oils.

- Brow Lamination Before a Wedding: What It Does, When to Book It, and What to Skip
Brow lamination is $65 at my Lewiston, Maine studio. Here is what it does for wedding photos, how far ahead to book it, and what I would skip before a wedding.
- When Should You Start Facials Before Your Wedding?
I like to start about six months before the wedding. That gives your skin several visits, spaced 4 to 6 weeks apart, and lets the last corrective facial land 4 to 6 weeks before the date. The final days are for something gentle only. My facials in Lewiston run from $60 to $150.
- How Long Does Brow Lamination Last?
Brow lamination typically holds its shape for about 6 to 8 weeks, as your brows grow through their natural cycle. How long yours lasts depends on how fast your brows grow, your skin and your aftercare. At my Lewiston studio it is $65 and includes brow mapping, as my brow lamination page explains.
