How much is the travel fee for wedding makeup in Maine?
My travel fee is $100 an hour of drive time, counted round trip from my Lewiston studio to where you get ready. I come to you anywhere in Maine and beyond. A Portland morning is about $140 in travel. Every rate sits on my wedding makeup pricing page, and I confirm travel in writing.
Your wedding morning happens where you are staying, not in my studio chair. So here is the rule I use to price the drive, written out so you can work out your own number before you write to me.
Clients have left me 60 five star reviews across Google, The Knot, WeddingWire and Facebook, and Google sits at 5.0 from 33 of them. You can read them on Google before you plan the morning.
How do you work out my travel cost?
Travel is drive time only, round trip. I worked a wedding in Yarmouth in late August, which is about 35 minutes each way, so about an hour and ten minutes of travel. One hour each way is two hours of travel. I count the drive from my studio in Lewiston to wherever you are getting ready, then double it for the drive home.
That makes the figure predictable. You do not have to wait for me to look at your venue before you can budget, because the town and the drive are all I need. Closer towns mean a smaller travel line, and longer drives follow the same hourly rule.
I call the number an estimate until your date is held, because roads change with the season, not because the rate moves. Route 1 summer traffic is slow, so I plan my arrival well ahead of your start time. When I confirm your date, I confirm the travel figure with it, in writing.
What is the travel fee to my town?
These are the drive times I plan with, each way from Lewiston, and the round trip travel estimate for each. My town pages carry the same figures. This year my late summer ran from Poland and Yarmouth in late August to Northeast Harbor in early September and The Old Saco Inn in Fryeburg on September 12.
| Town | Drive each way | Travel estimate |
|---|---|---|
| Poland | about 15 minutes | about $50 |
| Yarmouth or Freeport | about 35 minutes | about $120 |
| Portland or Brunswick | about 40 minutes | about $140 |
| Kennebunkport or Fryeburg | about 1 hour 10 minutes | about $240 |
| Camden or York | about 1 hour 30 minutes | about $300 |
| Portsmouth, NH | about 1 hour 40 minutes | about $340 |
| North Conway, NH | about 1 hour 50 minutes | about $360 |
| Rangeley, Bangor or Wolfeboro, NH | about 2 hours | about $400 |
| Bar Harbor | about 3 hours | about $600 |
If your town is not listed, the rule still works. Take the drive time each way, double it, and that is your travel time. In early October, Fryeburg Fair week slows the drive west, so I leave earlier that week. The wedding makeup travel page for Maine groups the regions I cover, from the southern coast to the mountains.
What does a long drive like Northeast Harbor look like?
I worked a wedding in Northeast Harbor in early September. Here is how travel for a morning there would be quoted. Northeast Harbor is about 3 hours 15 minutes each way from Lewiston, so the travel line is about $650.

The makeup itself is priced the same as anywhere else, per person. Only the travel line grows with the distance. A bride and her party in Northeast Harbor see the same per person lines as a party in Portland.
A drive that long is also where an overnight often makes sense, so I raise it when you inquire rather than leave it as a surprise. The Northeast Harbor wedding makeup page has the local detail for Mount Desert Island.
When does a wedding need an overnight?
Long drives like Bar Harbor or Rangeley are covered by the same round trip travel fee. When an overnight makes sense, usually because of an early ceremony or a long drive, I handle the accommodations. It is settled case by case at booking. I cover Maine and beyond, and past mornings have taken me to the Samoset, the Wentworth and The Old Saco Inn.
That means you are not asked to find me a room. I talk it through with you when I quote, and the arrangement goes into the written confirmation with everything else. If an overnight is not needed, it is not part of your quote.
How do you set my arrival time?
I start from your ceremony time and work backwards. I plan about an hour for the bride and 30 to 45 minutes for each additional person, with the bride finished last. Then I add the drive, with room for parking and summer traffic.
I bring my own lighting and a full kit, so I am set up before the first person sits down. The most common reason a wedding morning runs behind is someone arriving late, not the drive. A shared list of names and chair times fixes most of that. If the ceremony time moves, tell me and I rework the schedule.
For the rest of the plan, see how I run wedding makeup mornings across Maine. It covers the preview and how I build the schedule around your ceremony.
I take one wedding per date, so when you have a date and a town, check your date with me and I will reply within one business day with the line items for your morning.
