Laminated and shaped brows done at my Lewiston, Maine studio, set in one direction for wedding photos

What does brow lamination do before a wedding?

Brow lamination sets your brow hairs in one direction so the shape holds without daily product. It is $65 at my Lewiston studio and includes brow mapping. For a wedding I like it two to three weeks before the date, which leaves time for the brows to settle and room to adjust.

Brow lamination sets your brow hairs in one direction so the shape holds without daily product. It is $65 at my Lewiston, Maine studio, it lasts several weeks, and for a wedding I like it booked two to three weeks before the date. That gives the brows time to settle and leaves room to adjust.

I am Bridgette Goulet, a licensed aesthetician in Lewiston. Brows come up in almost every wedding conversation I have, usually in the same sentence as skin. Brides want their brows to look like their own brows, only tidier and more even, and they want that without drawing them on at six in the morning with shaking hands. Lamination is the service that does that, as long as the timing is right.

What does brow lamination actually do?

It is a setting service, not a colour service and not a tattoo. I use a solution to soften the hair, brush the hairs into the direction that suits your brow shape, then set them there. Hairs that grew down get lifted, hairs that grew sideways get combed into line, and gaps that were really just hairs pointing the wrong way close up.

The result is a fuller looking, more even brow that stays brushed. It is worth being clear about what it is not. It does not add hair where there is none, it does not change your brow colour on its own, and it does not permanently reshape anything. When the hairs grow through, your natural pattern returns.

It pairs naturally with a shape and a tint, and most people book those together so the brow is set, tidy and even in tone in one sitting. I will tell you honestly at the appointment if I think your brows do not need all three.

How long before the wedding should I book brow lamination?

Two to three weeks out is my preference, and here is the reasoning behind it.

  • Freshly laminated brows look their strongest in the first few days. They soften into something more natural after that, and the softer version is usually the one you want in photos.
  • Two weeks leaves room to fix anything. If you want the shape a little different or the tone a shade lighter, there is time to adjust before the wedding rather than living with it.
  • The wear window still covers your date. Lamination holds for several weeks, so a booking two to three weeks out is still doing its job on the morning of the wedding.

If this is your first time, do it earlier. Book a first lamination two or three months before the wedding as a trial, see how your brows respond and how you feel about the shape, then book the real one two to three weeks before the date. A wedding is not the moment to find out you prefer your brows softer.

What should I skip before a wedding?

This is the part people do not expect an aesthetician to say, but here it is.

  • Do not try something new in the last week. Not lamination, not a new tint shade, not a first wax. Anything new goes in the calendar with weeks to spare.
  • Do not stack new services on the same day, close to the date. If skin is reacting, you want to know which service to blame.
  • Do not chase a dramatic shape. Photos last longer than trends, and a brow that fits your face reads better in five years than a brow that was fashionable.
  • Do not wet or steam the brows for the first day after lamination. No hot shower straight onto the face, no sauna, no swimming. I will go through aftercare with you at the appointment.
  • Do not add a strong brow makeup on top on the wedding morning. Laminated brows usually need less product, not more.

How does lamination fit with facials and lashes?

Order matters more than people think. I like skin work well ahead, brows in the middle and lashes close to the date.

ServicePriceWhen I like it before a wedding
Facialsfrom $60a series over the months before, last one about two weeks out
Brow lamination$65two to three weeks before the date
Lash fillfrom $65close to the date, so the set is full for photos

That sequence keeps the closest appointments to the wedding low risk. Skin has the longest lead time because skin takes the longest to change. Brows sit in the middle because they need a settling window. Lashes go last because a fill is a top up on something you already know suits you.

How I plan makeup for this

When I know a client has laminated brows, I change how I work the brow on the day, wedding or not. I start with much less product. The hairs are already sitting where I want them, so instead of drawing a shape I am filling the few genuine sparse spots and leaving the rest alone. Usually a light hand with a pencil in the outer third and a clear or lightly tinted gel to hold the direction.

I also build the eye a little differently. A strong set brow carries more of the face than a soft brow does, so I do not need as much weight on the lash line to make the eye read in photos. That balance is one of the things I settle with you at a bridal preview, which is included in the $300 bridal makeup price, so nothing about the brow is a surprise on the morning.

For brides, the practical benefit is time. A set brow is faster to do on the day, and faster for the bridal party too, which matters when the morning is running on a photographer's clock.

Timing from Lewiston

Timing from Lewiston: brow lamination happens at my studio inside Tucci and Co Salon on Sabattus Street in Lewiston. Brides drive up from Portland in about 40 minutes and from Kennebunkport in about an hour and ten, and plenty pair the appointment with a facial or a lash fill in the same trip so one drive covers two services. If your wedding is on location, I come to you on the day, but brows and skin happen here beforehand.

Booking it

Brow lamination is $65 and you can book it directly online. If you are planning a wedding and want the brows, skin and lashes lined up in the right order, tell me your wedding date when you book and I will map the appointments backward from it. For the wedding day itself, my Maine wedding makeup page covers how on location mornings run, and you can send your date through the wedding inquiry form whenever you are ready.

What should I read next?

If you are still planning, read about when to get lash extensions before a wedding and facials before a wedding. Every wedding price is on my wedding makeup pricing page. When you are ready, check your wedding date and I will reply within one business day.

Questions, answered

How much is brow lamination?

Brow lamination is $65 at my studio in Lewiston, Maine. A shape and a tint are often booked alongside it, and I will tell you at the appointment if I think you do not need all three.

How long before my wedding should I get brow lamination?

Two to three weeks before the date. Fresh lamination looks strongest in the first few days and softens into something more natural after that, and the gap leaves room to adjust anything.

How long does brow lamination last?

Several weeks, until your own hairs grow through and your natural growth pattern returns. That is why a booking two to three weeks before the wedding still holds on the day.

Is brow lamination the same as microblading?

No. Lamination sets your existing hairs in one direction and is not permanent. I do not offer permanent makeup, microblading or cosmetic tattooing.

Should I try brow lamination for the first time before my wedding?

Only with plenty of room. Book a first lamination two or three months out as a trial, then the real one two to three weeks before the date.
